Community Awareness:
As part of our mission to prevent child abuse and neglect,
The Family Center, in partnership with the Rutherford
Coalition against Child Abuse, conducts trainings for
teachers, daycare employees, and other professionals who are
considered mandatory reporters of child abuse and neglect in
the state of Tennessee. These presentations are done in
conjunction with the Department of Children’s Services, the
Child Advocacy Center of Rutherford County, and the
Murfreesboro Police Department. In these trainings,
attendees learn:
- 4 main types of child
abuse and neglect
- Signs and symptoms of
child abuse and neglect
- Reporting procedures for
the Department of Children’s Services.
- How the Department of
Children’s Services, law enforcement, and the Child
Advocacy Center work together during an abuse
investigation
Upon completion of the
training, attendees receive a certificate of their
participation and handouts of the material for future reference. This training
fulfills the yearly state requirements for abuse training for individuals who work
with children.
