Girls Raise Money to Prevent Other Children From Being
Abused or Neglected
Sarah Schaller and Casey Rice are both 10 years old and attend school in Rutherford County. They decided they would raise money by baking goodies like banana bread, orange cranberry bread, and frozen lemonade pie, and then selling those goodies to family and friends. Sarah and Casey did some research on the internet and in the telephone book, and chose the Exchange Club Family Center as the beneficiary of their efforts. In addition to baking the goodies themselves, contacting prospective customers, and delivering the finished products, the girls also researched child abuse prevention and hand-made menus with blue ribbons attached – the official ribbon of child abuse prevention.
Sarah and Casey worked tirelessly all summer, and on August 6, they proudly delivered their
hard-earned proceeds to the Exchange Club Family Center. These two industrious, creative,
and philanthropic little girls raised $575.00 for the prevention of child abuse during their summer
vacation. It is hard to imagine a more touching scenario than children working so diligently to
help other children. Sarah and Casey represent the best of what we can achieve when we
work together for the benefit of others, and they serve as a lovely example of personal
commitment and determination. They are a credit to their families and our community.

The Exchange Club Center was founded in 1985 with support
