Adverse childhood experiences are different types of abuse, neglect and other hallmarks of a rough childhood.  The brain develops over time.  Positive experiences in infancy and early childhood can help build a strong and healthy brain.  Negative experiences weaken the brain and can lead to life-long problems.  The Family Center offers a range of research-based parent education classes and in-home coaching to help  facilitate positive and safe parenting.  Parents in The Family Center parenting classes all take the ACE quiz.  It is a way to assess their own childhood as they learn new strategies for parenting their own children.
